Founded in October 2024, The California Review is an independent student society and nonprofit at UC Berkeley whose mission is to present alternative viewpoints and develop talent by publishing academic and journalistic work and hosting events. We investigate contemporary philosophical and political issues and connect our members to professional opportunities. Our organization stands in a long tradition and national network of student societies at elite American universities that have produced prominent figures, writers, and public intellectuals for over seventy years.
